Live music every Thursday from 4:00pm-6:00pm throughout the summer and fall market season. Our weekly music is generously supported by the Melrose Messina Fund for the Arts and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Mark Thompson

Mark has been a participant of several Melrose groups, including Greystone Brothers, The Bohemians, and more. He is celebrating the release of two great original singles, both with videos, produced during the Covid lock-down.

Joe Mulholland

Pianist Joe Mulholland is a Professor of Harmony at Berklee College of Music, and was Chair of the Department for 10 years. Joe specializes in jazz, blues, Brazilian and Broadway. He has released 5 CD’s of original compositions and arrangements (available on iTunes and CD Baby) and is very active as a soloist and vocal accompanist in the Boston area.

Deviant Folk

At the helm of “bluegrass folklore”, Deviant Folk’s Mark Abruzzese has taken the genre to depths unknown. A playful blend of unconventional lyrics led by harmonies and driven by undaunted musicianship, Abruzzese’s arrival to the scene is just as unabashed as…well, a devil playing the guitar.

Eddie Miller

Eddie Miller is a Melrose based singer/songwriter and father of three, hailing originally from Long Island, New York with several twists and turns in between. He’s been playing original rock and folk going on 30 years now.

 

Stephen Moore

Whether it is classical, pop, gospel, jazz or folk, Stephen is adept at each and a celebrated musician. He can often be found singing with jazz groups, playing at local folk venues, singing with choruses such as the Chorus North Shore, where he is a member, or leading well-known parade and marching band, The North Shore Stompers.

Stephen writes much of the music he performs as a solo artist playing 6 and 12 string guitars, multiple keyboards, harmonicas, bass guitar and trumpet. He also writes and arranges music for other performers and performing groups. Everywhere he plays people give him praise and say that he is able to weave a spell and provide a fun atmosphere creating a party from the very first note.

Sammy & Bill McQuaid

A father/son duo playing the likes of Woody Guthrie, Beatles, Chuck Berry, jazz hits, and more!

TIMKO & Leah

An acoustic duo who have shared time in Boston bands such as The Almighty Buck, Cold Car, and Van Morrison tribute, Cleaning Windows. Join them for an afternoon of classic rock covers, and original tunes.

Paul Harty is a constant on the North Shore music scene, performing with a wide variety of musicians and in many styles… vocal, guitar, mandolin, harmonica, fiddle, banjo and bass.. Rootsy music, blues, Irish, Cajun, bluegrass, old-time, rockabilly, doo wop, standards, etc.

The Collect Pond

The Collect Pond, the moniker for Boston-based singer-songwriter and audio engineer Danny Moffat, released their third album Long Range on 9/24. The first single,“Burrow,” available on 7/23, has a cascade of guitar textures, twinkling keys, and arena-ready drums with a ghostly voice building throughout, exorcising the fear felt in 2020 into dark atmospheric dream-pop. This will be a special solo performance not-to-be-missed.

Main Street News

The Main Street News is an acoustic duo from Wakefield, MA. While they are new to the scene (and to Wakefield), they are no strangers to the world of music. With their different musical backgrounds, Charlotte (vocals) and Christian (guitar/vocals) will deliver to you classic hits and today’s popular music.

Sam Chetkin

Sam Chetkin is a 15 year-old actor, singer, and songwriter from Melrose.  He has performed at such popular venues as Bill’s Bar, Loretta’s Last Call, and The Hard Rock in Boston.  He has performed title roles in local theatre groups, and most recently, the role of Roger in Rent. He has been performing in and around Boston for the past 3 years and will be recording original music in the near future.

Stephen L. Moore

Celebrating his 9th year of performing at the Melrose Farmers Market Stephen L. Moore is thrilled to perform again. He has directed and lead such groups as Community Covenant Church’s choirs, Cambridge Church of the Nazarene Choir, St. Theresa’s Children’s Choir, Presto Chorus, and the North Shore Stompers Marching Band.At the market, Stephen will play a number of his original songs as well as familiar folk and popular music.

Silverwood Duo

Julianne Johnston plays flute and saxophones to Barry Johnston’s guitar, enjoying a range of classical and jazz styles. Julianne is a classically trained flutist with years of orchestral and small ensemble experience. Taking up jazz led her to add the alto and soprano saxes to her repertoire. Barry started in high school rock bands and now plays both classical and jazz guitar. They love playing together and perform frequently as a duo in the Boston area, and also with larger groups.

The Bohemians

Bohemians – Bohemians is a group of Melrosians who drink coffee at The Bohemian and play a mix of Americana, blues, rock, and pop songs. Trading songs between group members, we seek to create a relaxed atmosphere for sharing music. Bohemians is: Jeremy Van Cleave (vocals, mandolin, guitar), Hannah Estabrook (vocals and the occasional tambourine), Jason English (vocals, guitar), Ken Templeton (vocals, guitar).

Sammy and Bill McQuaid

Sammy McQuaid is a 10 year old singer / guitarist who likes to play Beatles, Woody Guthrie and Chuck Berry tunes. He has been singing on stage with his dad since he five years old and he got serious about playing guitar when he turned eight years old.   Sammy has performed at the MAAV coffeehouse for the past four years and at the annual Parkinson’s Benefit at Sally O’Briens for the past seven years. 

Bill McQuaid has been performing country blues and ragtime music for several years.  His CD’s have received radio play on local radio stations.  Bill has opened for Luther Guitar Junior Johnson, Chris Smither, and Rory Block and has also performed at the Boston Blues Concert.
