After this weeks market on Thursday, please join us on Saturday for a unique experience at the Urban Farm Tour in Melrose, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. rain or shine. The Urban Farm Tour is our annual fundraiser to help us cover operational costs and our SNAP Matching program. It’s also a great way to get out of the house with the family and explore your neighbors gardens and farms! Many of our farms have vegetable gardens, chickens and one even has goats! The tour begins at Bowden Park at the junction of W. Emerson, and Vinton Streets, adjacent to the Cedar Park Commuter Rail stop, where you can buy tickets, if you haven’t bought them in advance, and pick up the map for the tour stops. The self-guided tour takes approximately 60-90 minutes.
Family-friendly activities, music, and lunch for purchase are available between 11:30-2:30pm back at the beginning of the tour at Bowden Park. The restaurants are The Porch (BBQ), Maya Indian Grill, and La Qchara (Latin).
The tour cost is $20/adult, $5/child 6-18 yrs. Children 5 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased in advance, saving $3 on an adult ticket, online, at the farmers’ market this week, and at Buckalews, Hour Glass, and Miter Biter.
All farms are located within Melrose, making for a bike-friendly 8-mile ride (50 minutes not including time for stopping) to visit each site. A map of the bike route will be provided on the brochure for those wishing to go by bike.
We hope to see you Thursday AND Saturday!
