Steve Violette from Dick’s Market Garden will be at the market this week to talk about farming in Mass. and answer questions about the food you buy at the market.

Steve’s farm consists of 100 acres of mixed fruits and vegetables. His farm includes small fruit plants such as strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries plus apple, peach, plum, and pear trees. His vegetable crops include corn, tomatoes, peppers, carrots, beans, peas, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, brussel sprouts, fennel, celery, lettuces, and other greens.

Steve believes in safe food which means safe for eating and safe for farm workers to produce. He uses integrated pest management (IPM) methods and is very conservative with anything put on the plants. Steve doesn’t use GMO (genetically modified organism) seeds. Come learn more at the market this Thursday.
